The Rock Bottom Remainders, whose members include Stephen King on rhythm guitar, Dave Barry on co-lead guitar, Amy Tan on vocals and Matt Groening on cowbell, among others, was founded by book publicist and RBR vocalist Kathi Goldmark at a Anaheim book convention in 1992. Since then, the band has performed for various literacy causes, raising in excess of $2 million over the last 20 years.
Now, the band is back together for one last, two-city, Past Our Bedtime Tour. The El Rey gig is slotted to be the only public show, and the tour will end where the band began: at an Anaheim Book Event later that weekend. Of the upcoming concert, King says, "I'm looking forward to reuniting with all my bandmates. We're older but not dead. Some of us can remember all of the words; all of us can remember some of the words; but NONE of us can remember all of the music. That's why they call it rock and roll."
It's a shame I'll never get to see them play live.
