Tonight is the world premiere of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a collaboration between Stephen King and John Mellencamp. The show will run at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta until May 13th. Musical direction is by T-Bone Burnett. The play stars several local actors including Atlanta native and runner up on season 2 of American Idol, Justin Guarini.
“‘Ghost Brothers’ spans so many themes and styles and features characters struggling with so many different issues,” he said. “Yet at the same time it’s a Stephen King story through and through — a dark, pretty terrifying, sometimes hilarious piece of theatre that I don’t think anyone’s ever seen before as a ‘musical,’ as it were.”
Lucas Kavner, playing Frank McCandless, said he is looking forward to seeing the audience’s reaction to a show with “some incredibly freaky stuff mixed with some really funny stuff mixed with some good ol’ fashioned family drama. And then of course there’s blood. A whole lot of blood.”
I'm really tempted to take a road trip down to see the show. A bit anyway.
